Quick answer

Moon Sweepers needs Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 1650 or RX 570. Recommended is Windows 11, i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1660 Super or RX 5600 XT. Storage is only 2–4 GB.

ConfirmedThe storage requirement is small

A 2–4 GB footprint is unusually light for a 2026 release, which is good news if you are juggling disk space. It also means the game loads quickly from an SSD.

What the specs mean in practice

The GTX 1650 / RX 570 floor

These are 1080p entry-level cards from around 2019. The floor exists for a reason: Moon Sweepers renders a very large open surface with a lot of geometry, and late-game bases with dozens of machines and robots are the demanding case, not the empty Moon.

On floor hardware you should expect to run at 1080p with reduced settings. The bigger risk is not the graphics card but the CPU once a large automated base exists — many moving entities is the workload this game creates.

The recommended tier

A GTX 1660 Super or RX 5600 XT is a reasonable jump over the floor and matches the recommended Ryzen 5 3600. The 16 GB RAM in the recommended column matters more than it looks: a heavily built base with a large save file benefits from headroom.

Steam Deck

Steam lists Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown. That is not the same as unsupported — it means Valve has not verified it. Community reports are mixed but generally functional.

Patch 1.0.4 included a fix for startup issues on older Proton versions, which improved the Deck situation without making it official. The game has full controller support, so the input side is covered.

NoteIf you are buying specifically for Deck

Do not buy on the assumption it is verified. Check the current ProtonDB entries for the app ID (5335510) before spending, and refund within Steam's two-hour window if it does not run acceptably.

The AMD / DirectX note

Patch 1.0.4 changed the default DirectX version to DirectX 11 on Windows to prevent crashes on AMD GPUs. If you want DirectX 12 — which the recommended spec lists — add -force-d3d12 to the game's Steam launch options.

  1. Right-click Moon Sweepers in your Steam library.
  2. Open Properties.
  3. Find Launch Options.
  4. Enter -force-d3d12.

On an AMD card, leaving it on the default DX11 is the safer choice unless you have a specific reason to switch.

Before you buy

  • Confirm you are on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
  • Check you have 4 GB free if you want the recommended experience.
  • Confirm your GPU is at or above the GTX 1650 / RX 570 tier.
  • If you plan a large automated base, prefer 16 GB RAM.
  • On AMD, expect DirectX 11 unless you opt in to DX12.
  • On Deck, verify current Proton compatibility yourself.
